Huntsman Cancer Institute's mission is to understand cancer from its beginnings, to use that knowledge in the creation and improvement of cancer treatments, to relieve the suffering of cancer patients, and to provide education about cancer risk, prevention, and care. Each year, the Mid-Cities Alumni Chapter coordinates, in conjunction with the Houston Alumni Chapter, FW Alumni Chapter and the Dallas Alumni Chapter, a large brotherhood baseball event centering around the Lone Star Series / Silver Boot Series between the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros. This event alternates locations each year between Houston & Arlington, and the ticket sales include a donation amount to Huntsman, which amounts to approximately $2,000 a year .
